26th Annual Deep Pit BBQ to be held on Saturday May 17th!
This year the 26th annual BBQ weekend celebrates the contributions of Doug and Karen Long to the heritage of the San Dieguito area. They are the recipients of the “Living Heritage Award” for their work in the community. This year’s BBQ is also special as we return to the Deep Pit BBQ. For 20 years, the San Dieguito Heritage Museum’s BBQ was cooked in the ground according to tradition. Cooking BBQ in a deep pit makes the tastiest BBQ.
The BBQ event starts at noon and food will be served from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. During the event, the museum and exhibits will be open for visitors to browse through.
There will be costumed photo opportunity sites, kid’s activities, a silent auction, and a bake sale. Several vehicles will be on display, including a 1960 Del Mar Fire Department fire engine, a stagecoach, a 1917 Model T Ford and other unique cars.
There will be music provided by Two of Us Plus One.
