I used to go to Del Mar with my dad & brother in the ’70s. I never knew at the time how fortunate we were to witness the Triple Crown winners of that era. I also didn’t know how fortunate we were to have people in politics like Shirley Chisholm. I never imagined the drought we would have in both these areas during my lifetime. Just like that song, Big Yellow Taxi. “Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone.”
